Privacy Policy

How Talented Recruitment collects, uses and protects your personal information, in line with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Last updated 28 July 2026.

Who we are

Talented Recruitment is a recruitment agency based at Simbithi Eco Estate, Ballito, 4399, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. We place candidates with employers in South Africa and internationally. For the purposes of POPIA, we are the responsible party for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at lauren@talentedrecruitment.co.za or +27 63 812 5401.

The information we collect

The information we hold depends on how you deal with us. From candidates we typically collect your name and contact details, your CV, employment history, qualifications, skills and references, your identity or passport details and right to work, and your salary expectations. From clients we collect the contact details of the people we deal with, along with company and vacancy information. From website visitors we collect anything you submit through our contact forms, together with standard analytics data such as pages viewed and approximate location.

Where we get your information

Most often we collect information directly from you, when you apply for a role, send us your CV, complete a form on this site or speak to one of our consultants. We may also collect information from public professional profiles and job boards, from referees you have nominated, and from employers who ask us to help them hire.

Why we process your information

We process your information to match you to suitable roles, to present you to prospective employers, to verify your qualifications and take up references, to communicate with you about opportunities and applications, to manage our relationship with our clients, and to meet our legal and regulatory obligations. Where the law requires your consent, we ask for it, and you may withdraw it at any time.

Sharing your information

We share candidate information with prospective employers when we put you forward for a role, and we tell you when we do. We also share information with service providers who help us operate, such as our IT, hosting and email providers, and with background, qualification or credit verification providers where a role requires it and you have agreed to the check. We may disclose information where the law requires it. We do not sell your personal information.

Sending information outside South Africa

Because we place South African talent with employers abroad, your information may be sent to and processed in other countries. Where we transfer personal information outside South Africa, we do so only as POPIA allows: with your consent, because it is necessary to perform or conclude a contract in your interest, or where the recipient is subject to laws or binding agreements that provide an adequate level of protection.

How long we keep your information

We keep candidate information for as long as it is useful for the purpose it was collected, so that we can approach you about future roles. Unless you ask us to remove it sooner, we generally retain candidate records for up to five years after our last meaningful contact with you, after which they are deleted or de-identified. Some records are kept longer where a law requires it.

How we protect your information

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access and misuse. Access to candidate and client records is limited to the consultants who need it to do their work, our systems are password protected, and our website is served over an encrypted connection. No system is completely secure, but we take these obligations seriously and review them as our business grows.

Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you and to receive a copy of it. You may ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive, out of date or obtained unlawfully. You may object to us processing your information, and you may withdraw consent where our processing relies on it. You may also ask us to stop sending you marketing at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email lauren@talentedrecruitment.co.za and we will respond as quickly as we reasonably can.

Lodging a complaint

If you believe we have not handled your personal information properly, please contact us first so that we can put it right. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa, which oversees compliance with POPIA. Details are available on the Regulator’s website at inforegulator.org.za.

Cookies and website analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working properly and to understand how visitors use it, so that we can improve it. Analytics information is used in aggregate and is not used to identify you personally. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as intended if you do.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as our services or the law change. The current version is always published on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top. Where changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to bring them to your attention.
